I found where all of the hip, eager, young people that years ago would have been into radio are. The Oracle convention right next door at the Moscone Center here in San Francisco. As I walked through the crowd, I saw the kind of faces that I remember seeing at radio conventions years ago. The Internet and high-tech have become the cool place to be. Radio is old school.
The convention also has that energy that the NAB and R&R have lost. It's so big they have shut down Howard Street between 3rd and 4th for 9 days! Big outdoor TV screens touting everything Oracle. Lots of excitement, very show biz. The NAB/R&R looked like an insurance industry convention by comparison.
