Last night in Boston (and the past week in Chicago and L.A.), a great event occurred for our radio industry, and for the music business that deserves recognition. "U2 3 Nights" was presented by FMQB and Interscope Records. Fred Deane from FMQB and Brenda Romano from Interscope deserve a big high five for creating an event for radio.
Let me say it again... AN EVENT FOR RADIO!
We should rejoice the fact that our industry created a rare radio extravaganza that not only creates "can't miss content" but lifts our industry up at a very difficult time. That entire concept of events for radio is something we have often lost sight of in radio.
These three nights of broadcasts were a celebration of U2's new release No Line on the Horizon. We have to cherish and celebrate spectacular artists like U2.
Grand scale, major league events are things that radio was once known for, and we need to be thinking big again. This is what our audience craves and this is what our industry needs in order to be energized and lifted up!
